It appears the financial crisis and the Madoff + Merkin crisis has hit Yeshiva U hard.
The Jewish Star reports that President Richard Joel has announced 60 sudden layoffs at the University.
Sad to say, abrupt layoffs like these at a non-profit are especially damaging to its reputation. It signals poor leadership and it will make recruiting on the campus more difficult for a long time.
Makes us wonder what else is going on over there in Washington Heights. Stay tuned.
