In a nice touch of irony the show, "A Scandalous Affair" will play at the Merkin Concert Hall on April 19

It's not about J. Ezra Merkin's scandalous financial affairs, but the show, "A Scandalous Affair" will play at the Merkin Concert Hall on April 19.

This "Scandalous Affair" is a musical that depicts the real-life love affair between famed Hollywood co-stars Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy.

The show is written by Hallie Neill, who plays MacDonald. Theodore Lambrinos plays Eddy, and the pianist is Raymond Hughes. Tickets are $20-$40.

Not the scandalous story we want to know about, the financial scandal of Merkin's secret investments with Bernie Madoff. Still it is a nice touch of irony. (No, I am not going to photoshop into the graphic the faces of Bernie Madoff and Ezra Merkin, tempting as that may be. Use your imagination.)

I guess that, concurrent with a second possible Depression, we may be entering a second Golden Era of entertainment.
