Jewish Standard Searching for Editor

My good friend Jamie Janoff has a challenging  position open at his paper.
The Jewish Standard is seeking a dynamic, accomplished editor.

The Standard serves Bergen, Passaic, and Hudson counties in New Jersey, reaching 20,000 homes via its print edition, website, e-mail newsletter, and social media. It is independently operated and has been publishing since 1931. Its current editor is retiring after 24 years at the helm.

The weekly newspaper, which is based in Teaneck, N.J., covers local, national, and international news of interest to its readers, who are actively engaged in all aspects of Jewish life. The position requires strong leadership, interpersonal, and teaming skills; community engagement and relationship-building abilities; creativity; and strong story identification/selection, news development, writing, opinion, editing, and newspaper production skills.

Applicants should have a deep and balanced understanding of issues of concern to the Jewish community and experience with page design, digital media, and social networking. Substantial journalism experience is required, and knowledge of or experience in the New Jersey Jewish community is a plus.

Submit a cover letter, résumé, writing samples, compensation history, and references to publisher@jewishmediagroup.com
