I put all my energy into completing my new book, God's Favorite Prayers, and into teaching the high holiday liturgy at JTS. I recommend you read GFP and apply it's framework to the HH machzor. In doing so you will see that RH is predominantly a festival of the celebrity archetype. It's not surprising that many find it hard to identify with the messages embeded in many places, especially if they don't buy into that archetype's main ideas. You will find that YK is a long exercise in a meditation of compassion, starting with KN and continuing through the repeated selihot, and the vidui, etc. If you aren't attuned to meditations like this, or if nobody told you that was what they were, then you might not resonate with all that goes on there. Alas, and off the record, the Soloveitchik machzor contributed little to help me systematize my thinking on the HH liturgy. I had to do the excavating and construction on my own from scratch.Tzvee Zahavyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15833902273722124103noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3523041.post-83845677714672314222011-09-20T14:38:19.652-04:002011-09-20T14:38:19.652-04:00Tzvee, did you ever publish your notes on the Solo...Tzvee, did you ever publish your notes on the Soloveitchik machzorim that you promised here?Theophrastushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04981876713019298465noreply@blogger.com
