Obama quits Chicago church after long controversy
ABARDEEN, S.D. - Barack Obama is resigning a 20 year membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks by former pastor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Obama campaign communications director Robert Gibbs said Obama had submitted a letter of resignation to the church and would discuss his decision in a session with reporters later Saturday.
Comments by Wright have posed an unwanted problem for Obama, front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Barack Excommunicates His Former Church
Religious leaders are in retreat after messing up big time in the current run up to the election this coming November. One could say, as I have, that the candidates are excommunicating their church leaders from the political process and ultimately from any little political power or influence which they might have had.
"Religious leaders are in retreat after messing up big time in the current run up to the election this coming November."
ReplyDeleteSounds like, in this case, Obama is the one in retreat.
how's that?
ReplyDeleteAll I meant is that Obama is FINALLY retreating from his church -- as if he had no idea until now what's been goin' on there.
ReplyDeleteStill, I'm curious what you meant by "religious leaders are in retreat."
too little too late. he had 20 years of divisiveness. he let them run a mok, and ddid not even condemn his own advisors labeling his opponent as a nazi. it was too late for mccain and its too late now for obama to play politics. he's no saint suddenly for dropping them. he's a perfect typical american politician.
ReplyDeletegag
too bad he let "hillary dictate" what happens with his church...right?
ReplyDeleteNO. He is a successful politician who has won his party's nomination for president.
ReplyDelete"He is a successful politician who has won his party's nomination for president." Well, even if the Fat Lady cleared her throat, she still hasn't sung yet. With two contests remaining, No-Iraq Barack will close out the primary season approximately 30 pledged delegates short of the nomination according to the Nobama campaign. What then? The decision goes to the Supers who, as a rule, are fickle and could flip-flop (like all good Dems) regarding which candidate is likely to pose the strongest challenge to McCain. Oh. . . Wait a minute . . . the Fat Lady didn't clear her throat; she had beans for lunch.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention this. I guess you don't watch Fox News (go figure) so you probably didn't hear this.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Geraldo on FOX News talking about Michelle Obama Racist Rant Tape:
Geraldo Rivera discussed the Michelle Obama Racist Rant Tape this morning on FOX News, with guest Roger Sloane, who stated this tape does exist, showing Michelle Obama off on a crazed, racist, anti-American rant, and that "a network" does in fact have the tape.
Roger Sloane is the man who broke the Elliott Spitzer prostitution scandal.
Geraldo downplayed the tape and said he'll believe it when he sees it -- which, if we remember correctly, is what journalists like him said right before Elliott Spitzer was exposed. First the rumors came out. Then Roger Sloane reported on it. Then people like Geraldo doubted it and then speculated on it. And then, rather quickly, the rest of the media caught up, railed against the governor, and Elliott Spitzer resigned.
Things like this follow patterns in the news...and it looks like Larry Johnson's announcement tomorrow morning on NoQuarterUSA.net is going to add some fuel to this fire (hence someone hacking his site last night to try to prevent him from getting the word out).
How 'bout them 'bamas.
