The Atlantic says yes, that kvetching, i.e., complaining, can be good for your health. The article is mostly pop psych, but I like the approach.
My add to the discussion is that I find often a complaint is in its first priority, a request for compassion. The article specifies, "sympathy and attention" - not the same thing as compassion.
And in its second purpose, complaining can be an inquiry seeking a resolution.
