Meanspirited Cheap Shot in the NYTIMES: Woman Appointed to Lead UWS Shul is Sowing the Seeds of Schism

In an alliterative flourish quoted by the NYTimes an UES Rabbi takes to task Dina Najman at KOE, his new competition on the UWS saying, Those who are pushing for female rabbis in the Orthodox movement are sowing the seeds of schism, said Rabbi J. David Bleich.

Gosh. I would expect a mature polite rabbi to wish his new younger colleague good luck and offer her his counsel and support. Or at least to say nothing at all.

Who then has decided to sow the seeds of schism?

Related to this, see my previous post, When Women Write the Checks.

I posted something at the "When Women Write the Checks" link.

R' Tzvee, why didn't you simply give a hearty mazel tov to this woman, instead of waiting to criticize a rabbi who commented on the issue?

Hmmmm....

so you think what about this matter? the rabbi is right, the woman is causing a schism? as the saying goes, it takes two to schism. why not just accept the logical, fair and inevitable, the equality of women!

Because Halacha supersedes logic and fairness. You call yourself a Rabbi, you should know that. I'm sick of you bashing the Orthodox at any given chance.

Orthodox rabbis are not above criticism and Orthodoxy does not supersede logic and fairness. Who taught you that?

Rachack said...

I didn't say Orthodoxy, I said halacha. And of course it does. Halacha is divine, logic and fairness are sebjective human qualities. It is more likely that the latter is flawed, than, heaven forbid, saying that the former is flawed.

Who taught you such utter nonsense? There is no such thing as halakhic infallibility. You are confused.

You ignored my question, and went off on a tangent. Eh, it's alright. I'm getting used to it.

I am not confused. On the contrary, it is you who is confused Mr. Zahavy.
