Hollywood has another Holocaust film this week. We saw the film at home on our plasma TV Saturday night on a promotional DVD.
"Defiance" showcases Daniel Craig as a tough Jewish resistance fighter. The man is a good actor. The film works - it draws you in to the forest with the Jews of the era. The human tensions convinced us. It's getting decent reviews.
But every effective Hollywood Holocaust film I have seen evoked for me the mass suffering of my people.
That always makes me at least sad and sometimes depressed. Your mileage may vary.
